Position Overview
Kirby School in Santa Cruz, an independent grade 6-12 school, is looking for a part-time ( 30 hours/week) , in-person Marketing and Admissions Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, emerging professional to join a highly respected educational institution. This person will support a range of tasks associated with these highly collaborative offices, which are focused on attracting and recruiting (marketing-driven) and evaluating and selecting (admissions-driven) students for admission.

Key Admissions and Enrollment Responsibilities:
Support admissions events both on and off campus (preparation, set up, manage event flow, and clean up) including: Open Houses, parent mixers, community events, school fairs, parent coffees, campus tours, and candidate interviews (this will include evenings and Saturdays scheduled in advance)
Assist with preparing for bi-weekly school tours, prospective student shadow days, shadow day lunch panels (during admissions season), new parent coffees, and other community building events
Support the Kirby student ambassador program
Assist with recruiting and training of student ambassadors
Support regular ambassador meetings and generate positive rapport
Support prospective student engagement and the shadow program
Recruit student ambassadors for specific events
Support with data entry in Finalsite to keep admissions funnel up to date
Print and prepare mailings for the Admissions department
Manage inventory and organize Kirby gear
Other duties contributing to the team’s success, as requested by leadership
Key Marketing and Communications Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team on projects and ideas for marketing and communications
Capture images and video content for use in digital media marketing and advertising
Update or produce collateral, including programs, mailers, flyers, etc.
Produce school event materials, including programs, posters, and flyers, etc.
Support marketing initiatives and events
Assist with Bulletin Board design and creation around the campus
Other duties contributing to the team’s success, as requested by leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain access to a reliable, insured personal vehicle for company-related local travel and errands
Ability to professionally and independently engage and collaborate with students, faculty, and staff
Firm understanding of tools, platforms, and culture in the social media space
Maintain high standards in design production details
Must be computer literate with a solid working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, email, chat, instant message, presentation software, imaging/graphic design software, desktop publishing software
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to work independently
Ability to lift 30lbs and stand for extended periods
Team player attitude to jump in where needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Canva and Adobe tools, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Working knowledge of Google Suite including Google Analytics
Knowledge of HTML
Interest in academia or an understanding of K-12 educational models, in particular, independent schools
Bilingual (Spanish) an asset
Hours: This is a part-time position (30 hours/week) with standard core business hours. However, due to the nature of our events calendar, schedule flexibility is required. During event weeks, hours will shift to accommodate early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed. Any overtime hours will be pre-approved by the supervisor and compensated in accordance with California law. Job Type: Part-time (30 hours/week), in person, during the academic school year
