This position is for an experienced writer and project manager who aims to tell compelling stories about D-E across multiple platforms and channels, and can simultaneously project-manage Communications & Publications Team jobs that are both short-term and long-term as well as ‘typical’ and new. The ideal candidate is someone who is an experienced content strategist with a journalistic bent who understands how building relationships deepens the conversation as well as a meticulous researcher, reporter, and proofreader.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create content for all communications channels, highlighting program initiatives, achievements, and events, and also can interview representatives of the community and write related feature articles and profiles for key communications channels including D-E Today and the d-e.org website.

  • Meet with, assess, and manage jobs workflow for internal client groups that include the three divisions, the DEIB Office, Athletics, Performing Arts and Art & Design departments, Admissions, Development, College Counseling Office, HR, and other areas. They will also contribute to email Pushpages development and launch and provide proofing on all creative collateral.

Duties:

  • This position reports to the Director of Communications & Publications and plays a key role on the D-E Communications & Publications (Comm.) Team, which provides full service, in-house creative design, marketing, branding, media/public relations, and other services to diverse areas and departments within the School, including all three (3) divisions (Lower; Middle; Upper): Development and  Alumni Relations; Athletics; and Performing Arts and Art & Design departments.

  • This position is for a skilled storyteller who is nimble with technology and adept with project management. They will provide original copywriting, copyediting and/or proofreading support for a broad variety of online and print media (magazines, postcards, paid advertising placements, etc.), and D-E School branded collateral of all types. They are a clear, effective communicator who understands the power of multiple platforms and perspectives; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, and proactively looks for ways to authentically represent the School’s key messages.

The person in this role must have achieved a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in English/Communications/Journalism.  A minimum of 6-8  years experience in written communications and editing as well as proven project management experience is required. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required, as is a collaborative mindset and the ability to work with a variety of people both within D-E and external service providers (e.g., writers from other firms). Experience with photography/videography and in using WordPress, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is preferred. Experience working for/with an educational institution / school is a plus.

Terms of Employment:  Full Time, 40 hours / week. This is a 12 month position.  Evening and weekend work is required periodically, for various school events.
