Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Position Summary
The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) seeks a Marketing and Communications Manager to begin immediately. The Marketing and Communications Manager will support the Director of Marketing and Communications and serve as a member of the Advancement Team.

Overview
Established in 1974, MSR is a vibrant and exceptional independent Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the Triangle area serving 400+ students aged 6 weeks through 18 years. MSR is committed to the intellectual, ethical, and personal development of our students. Our beautifully designed  Lead Mine Campus, situated on 10 acres in North Raleigh, comprises five buildings in a child-centered, village-like setting surrounded by wetlands and protected forest. Our Middle and Upper Schools are housed on an expansive 40-acre wooded campus in Brier Creek in Durham. Both sites were carefully planned and constructed to provide the nature-centered environments integral to Montessori practice. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing & Publicity

  • Develop, create, and deliver print and digital materials and advertising collateral in support of admissions, fundraising, academics, and other functions of the School
  • Assist with implementation of advertising strategy at the direction of the Director
  • Create video content using existing collateral for use across multiple marketing platforms including the School’s website, social media, digital advertising, and e-communications
  • Assist with maintaining and developing MSR’s website content (written, photographic, graphic) to ensure content is current, relevant, and in alignment with the School’s communications strategy
  • Track and report on School website, PPC, and other marketing campaign analytics data
  • Provide support on SEO optimization for School website
  • Project manage production and development of marketing collateral and other project work at the direction of the Director
  • Photograph events, students, and other appropriate subjects for use in publications, social media, School website, and advertising
  • In partnership with Director, identify and manage publicity opportunities across multiple outlets to to include:
  • Promotion of special events, milestones, activities
  • Implementation of communications plans for events, milestones, etc.
  • Submission of public-facing MSR events/news to print and online community calendars

Social Media

  • In partnership with Director, develop and implement social media strategy in support of school objectives
  • Manage a social media strategy to and build engagement across MSR’s social media, to include MSR’s Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X, and YouTubeTwitter pages
  • Report on social media metrics and analytics and provide recommendations

Writing/Editorial

  • Provide writing and proofreading assistance as requested, including, but not limited to: weekly e-newsletters, development, admission, auxiliary programs, academic, and other print materials

Other

  • Maintain and update the student “do not photograph” list
  • Manage the School’s Parent and Employee Resource system
  • Participate as a member of the School’s Advancement Team
  • Serve on school committees/ task forces at the discretion of the Director
  • Administrative duties including assigned after-school and carline duties
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Chief Advancement Officer, and Director of  Marketing and Communications

Competencies
The Marketing and Communications Manager should possess at minimum:

  • A commitment to the mission and core values of MSR which include “respect, integrity, community and, love of learning”
  • A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, or any appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to include general photography and photo editing skills
  • Experience in communications, journalism, or public relations preferred
  • Strong project-management skills
  • Attention to detail and an ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies
  • Broad understanding of new communications media
  • Videography experience and knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro video-editing software  helpful
  • Experience with Google analytics and SEO optimization preferred
  • Experience with database communications, such as Veracross Composer, preferred
  • Independent school or private college experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The Marketing and Communications Manager can expect to:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment spending extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
  • Regularly sit, talk, hear, and interact with staff
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Regularly use close and distance vision
  • Turn, bend, and reach
  • Occasional night and weekend hours will be required
