School One Communications Coordinator

Full-time 12-month position

For over 50 years, School One, an independent high school in Providence, RI has enrolled up to 100 high school students in a college preparatory program focused on creativity and individual growth. Our average class size is nine students. School One attracts day students from southeastern Massachusetts to southwestern Rhode Island; international students attend via homestays.

Goal: Collaborate with colleagues to progressively generate measurable increases in both enrollment inquiries and donations to School One.

Communications Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Generate and curate S1 social media presence.
  • Regularly update the S1 website.
  • Create marketing media for S1 and/or collaborate with current outside vendors.
  • Build and maintain a media archive using a media management tool.
  • Coordinate with vendors to help support an advertising campaign.
  • Coordinate with School One Family Association (SOFA)leadership to help direct parent engagement, energy, and support.
  • Assemble and send a monthly Parent News email.
  • Oversee production and distribution of an annual appeal letter.
  • Write and promptly send thank you letters to all donors.
  • Lead annual participation in the United Way’s annual 401Gives program.
  • Organize and implement a fall event, the spring Art Show, and PrideFest participation.
  • Enhance alumni engagement with formation of an alumni council.
  • Interact with students on a regular basis (e.g. advise a club, run a Friday Committee, participate in p.e., and/or visit advising groups).
  • Oversee the rotation of banners in the exterior display case.

Service to the School Community

  • Positively represent School One in the broader community.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional behavior, upholding school rules per the Staff Handbook.
  • Attend school events including Parents’ Nights, the Fall Festival, the Art Show, Prom, and Graduation.

Essential skills

  • Must write with vibrancy, clarity and purpose across a broad spectrum including social media posts, video scripts, ads, fundraising, etc. Familiar with either Chicago Style or AP Style.
  • Must be experienced with design software; Adobe Creative Cloud preferred.
  • Must have skills shooting and editing video for use in social media.

This position will be filled by a college graduate who is positive, personable, energetic, and organized.
