Qualifications

Crystal Springs Uplands School seeks a part-time exempt Director of Marketing and Media (0.6 FTE,12-month) to lead a dynamic and data-informed marketing and media program that amplifies Crystal’s mission, elevates its brand, and strengthens engagement among key audiences. Reporting to the Assistant Head for Advancement and Strategy (AHAS), the Director will work to align institutional messaging, creative direction, and digital strategy across Advancement, Enrollment Management, and Community Relations. The Director will provide strategic leadership to a small, talented team and serve as a creative and strategic catalyst, combining data fluency with storytelling skill, innovation with execution, and collaboration with productivity. Experience in independent schools is preferred, and familiarity with the Crystal community is especially valued.

Strategy and Leadership

The Director will focus on strategic alignment, prioritization, and institutional coherence, while partnering closely with the Associate Director of Marketing and Media (ADMM), sharing responsibility for content development, storytelling, and execution.

  • In close partnership with the AHAS and the ADMM, design, implement, and assess an integrated marketing and media strategy that supports Crystal’s enrollment, advancement, and institutional goals
  • Use data and analytics to measure the impact of campaigns, refine content strategy, and inform budget and resource allocation
  • Oversee the Marketing and Communications Committee to ensure that Crystal’s marketing and media efforts advance institutional priorities and align with brand, reputation, and strategic messaging frameworks
  • Lead cross-departmental projects that require creative alignment, consistent voice, and coordinated execution
  • Oversee management of vendor relationships for design, photography, advertising, and digital media partnerships

Brand and Creative Direction

  • Support the work of Crystal’s brand work, maintaining visual and narrative consistency across platforms
  • Provide strategic guidance for the creation and production of marketing materials, video content, photography, and digital assets that tell Crystal’s story with authenticity and impact
  • Provide strategic input on community-facing content

Digital and Media Strategy

  • Lead the evolution of Crystal’s social media strategy, including platform selection, audience growth, analytics, and experimentation with emerging formats, in close partnership with the ADMM and Communications and Enrollment Associate (CEA)
  • Oversee digital media campaign planning, analytics, and creative development
  • Stay current with trends in digital engagement, social storytelling, and media technology, piloting innovative strategies where appropriate

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, partnership, and support to the ADMM and CEA, with a focus on professional growth, creative excellence, and collaborative problem-solving
  • Provide mentorship, goal-setting, and performance feedback that promote professional growth and alignment with Crystal’s values
  • Ensure the team’s work reflects institutional priorities and supports collaboration across Advancement, Admission/Enrollment Management, and the Head of School

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in marketing, media, brand management or related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading creative teams and managing complex projects

Preferred

  • Experience in independent schools or mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with the Crystal Springs Uplands School community
  • Experience with vendor management, analytics tools, and campaign reporting

Work Environment & Expectations

  • May be performed remotely; some on-campus meetings will be required
  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) position with some flexibility in scheduling
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods

Salary and Benefits

This is a parttime, exempt, 12-month administrative staff position, and the annual salary is commensurate with experience, within the range of $85,000 – $103,000.
