Smith Jewish Academy is a growing K-8 Jewish day school at a transformative moment in its history. Following the largest philanthropic investment in school history, Smith recently launched a new name and brand identity and has experienced enrollment growth for three consecutive years.

The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead the school’s strategic marketing, branding, and communications efforts in partnership with the Head of School and senior leadership team. This individual will oversee institutional storytelling, enrollment marketing, advancement communications, brand management, and community engagement while leading a small marketing team.

This is a senior leadership role for a strategic, mission-driven professional who combines strong judgment and creative vision with the ability to execute and oversee high-quality work across multiple platforms. This is an immediate opening.

Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership

  • Lead and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Strengthen and safeguard the Smith brand across all platforms and audiences.
  • Serve as a strategic communications adviser to school leadership.
  • Develop messaging that clearly communicates the school’s mission, educational philosophy, and community impact.

Enrollment, Advancement, & Community Engagement

  • Partner with admissions and advancement teams to support enrollment growth and fundraising initiatives.
  • Lead integrated campaigns for admissions, philanthropy, events, and institutional priorities.
  • Strengthen relationships with media contacts and community stakeholders.

Communications & Creative Oversight

  • Oversee marketing materials across print, digital, social media, website, email, multimedia, and advertising channels.
  • Supervise and support the Marketing Associate, who manages much of the school’s day-to-day communications production.
  • Ensure high-quality execution and consistency across all communications and creative assets.

Data, Analytics, & Operations

  • Monitor KPIs and audience engagement metrics to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Manage marketing and advertising budgets.
  • Conduct market research and identify opportunities for audience growth and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • 7-10+ years of marketing, communications, or brand leadership experience.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, project management, and strategic communication skills.
  • Experience leading integrated campaigns, digital platforms, and brand strategy.
  • Experience supervising staff and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
  • Independent school, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizational experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and/or the Twin Cities Jewish community preferred.
