Director of Communications

We are seeking a full-time Director of Communications beginning summer 2024. This role will include managing all schoolwide communications and coordinating with various stakeholders (i.e., admin,faculty, staff, students, parents). The coordinator will have the opportunity to write weekly newsletter, news stories, create content for social media and other digital platforms.

Communications Responsibilities

• a big piece of this job is creating and maintaining all the various distribution lists:
  • All School
  • After School
  • one for each of the 15 classrooms
  • this needs to be done in 3 different ways across 3 systems: Constant Contact, SignUp Genius and Remind
• Invitations for program-specific and school-wide events, Remind messages re. events, RSVPs for events
• Surveys, parents & staff
• Weekly Newsletter, Summer Program Newsletter
• Current Events Communication (local issues, safety-in-place, war, shootings, fire drills, etc.)
• Remind Alerts: Snow, delayed openings, book fair dismissals at the bookstore, field trip reminders like ETA for arrival times, etc.
• Staff remind messages
• Illness communications (COVID, flu, pink-eye, strep, etc.)
• Assessment communications for 3rd grade and higher

• Invitations to Open House, Curriculum Night, “Intro to (next program)”, Parent Events like Art Show and Music Celebration, Field Day, Fun Run, End of Year Celebrations, etc.

 Social Marketing

• post daily, make reels, ads, develop Montessori content that showcases philosophy

• Excellent attention to accuracy and detail.
• Strong writing and proofreading skills
• Experience and comfort with balancing multiple priorities and projects.
• Basic understanding of data analysis and analytics; candidates should be comfortable managing spreadsheets.
• Collaborate and work successfully in a team environment.
• Demonstrate expertise on the following platforms: Mac OS and Google Drive (Google Docs, Forms, and Sheets).
• Photography and Videography skills are a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree required plus 1-3 experience in a similar role.
