The Langley School, a preschool through grade 8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks an Associate Director of Digital Media to serve as the primary manager of the school’s official social media channels, videographer, and a key member of the marketing and communications team.

Summary:

The Associate Director of Digital Media will become a welcome and familiar presence around campus while curiously seeking out stories and activities that highlight the Langley experience. This role is responsible for managing the school’s social media presence, creating compelling videos, and helping to keep the website functional and updated. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications, this is a great position for someone who is interested not only in uncovering the Langley experience, but also in becoming a member of this incredible community of learners, thinkers, and creators.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and measure a robust social media editorial calendar and program, collecting and posting compelling and engaging content including academic, athletic, and arts activities; assemblies; community events; and other content highlighting the student and community member experience.
  • Own social media platform management by responding to comments and feedback and ensuring adherence to all school policies and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media platform updates, algorithm changes, opportunities, and trends.
  • Serve as the school’s videographer, recording events like all-school assemblies and parent education meetings, and working with departments to produce in-house videos to help the school share its mission and message with various constituency groups.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications and technology teams to maintain The Langley School website and manage internal data integration to support website users’ needs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation, with an understanding of trends and best practices.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, produce, shoot, and edit high-quality videos and photos.
  • Experience using website content management systems such as Finalsite Composer, as well as website analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the desire and ability to authentically engage with children and highlight their learning.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work and exercise judgment independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to shift hours when needed to cover events or respond to emergencies.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.
Three to five years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be available to work in-person, but remote work is possible when it is best for completing tasks.
