Franklin Academy, Connecticut’s premier independent boarding and day school for neurodivergent students, seeks an innovative, strategic, and creative Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the Academy’s marketing, communications, public relations, and brand strategy during an exciting period of institutional growth.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working closely with the Head of School and senior leadership, the Marketing & Communications Manager will develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that strengthens Franklin Academy’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading schools for neurodivergent learners. This position plays a critical role in supporting enrollment growth, advancement initiatives, the Center for Neurodiversity, alumni engagement, and Franklin Academy’s expanding national presence.
The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee the Academy’s storytelling, media relations, digital communications, social media strategy, publications, website, and marketing campaigns while ensuring a consistent and compelling institutional brand across all platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
Lead the implementation of Franklin Academy’s institutional marketing and communications strategy.
Strengthen and steward Franklin Academy’s brand identity across all internal and external communications.
Collaborate with senior leadership to communicate institutional priorities, strategic initiatives, and organizational growth.
Develop annual marketing plans supporting enrollment, advancement, academic programs, and institutional initiatives.
Identify opportunities to expand Franklin Academy’s reputation as a national leader in neurodivergent education.
Strategic Communications
Develop comprehensive communication plans for major institutional initiatives.
Serve as the primary editor for institutional communications.
Partner with the Head of School in developing key messaging.
Ensure consistent voice, branding, and messaging throughout the Academy.
Public Relations & Media
Develop proactive media strategies that increase Franklin Academy’s visibility.
Write and distribute press releases.
Cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national media.
Identify opportunities for awards, publications, conferences, podcasts, and thought leadership.
Coordinate media inquiries.
Social Media & Digital Marketing
Develop and execute Franklin Academy’s social media strategy.
Build a comprehensive content calendar.
Expand Franklin’s reach across emerging platforms.
Website & Digital Communications
Manage website content and ongoing improvements.
Publish news stories and institutional updates.
Develop landing pages supporting enrollment and fundraising initiatives.
Graphic Design & Publications
Working within Franklin Academy’s established visual identity and in partnership with external marketing agencies, the Marketing & Communications Manager will:
Design brochures and admissions publications.
Produce advancement and donor materials.
Develop publications for Summer at Franklin and the Center for Neurodiversity.
Design event materials.
Produce annual reports and institutional publications.
Create presentations for school leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, or related field.
Three or more years of professional marketing or communications experience.
Exceptional writing and editing skills.
Strong graphic design experience.
Experience with digital marketing and social media management.
Excellent project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple institutional priorities.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
